Wild Phlox + Repost
by Carolyn Derstine
This Phlox grows wild along the banks of the creek behind our house. This was taken outside. The background was in shadow but I used my small LED flashlight to add some lighting to the flower. Darkening was done on some of the BG in editing.
Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/10 for .8 sec. ISO 100. Wimberly Plamp used to hold flower still. Tripod mounted. Remote shutter release.

I like this very much as posted but I can also see Bob's point about the bud. I'm going to stay on the fence on this one but just add that it's a beautiful image and would be without the bud too. Leaving the bud in, I'd probably darken the greens on the viewer's left out and/or crop down to pano as much as possible from the top and bottom.

A very beautiful image and good use of fill lighting. The bud don't bother me and I agree with Pat about darkening the green. Well done.
