I was watching lizards and bees when I looked over at the pond and saw this leaf.

I changed the water to black just by increasing the contrast, so I hope that's okay, or the same principle as using a black cloth behind a subject.

I kept making changes to the crop and finally had to just stop. I actually posted three times, deleting the first two to work on the crop some more.

Comments, critique and suggestions on the crop and anything else are desired and welcome. Thank you!

Barbara: Looks like the third time is the charm. I like this very much as you've presented and processed it. I especially like the blue accents in the water around the leaf and the position of the leaf in the frame. Well seen and superbly captured. >=))>

I will echo Bill's comments. A willow leaf?

I guess this feels just a little too abstract for me. I like the idea of the leaf and its reflection but I guess I would like a little more evidence of the water to give some reference to show that it is a leaf and its reflection. Just my opinion.

Beautiful image Barbara. I wouldn't change a thing in it. I look at it and imagine all sorts of things. Fine use of space and for my tastes a very well balanced composition. One of my favorites in your portfolio.

Barbara:
Nice find and good capture + pp.

Looks like a little too much negative space for my taste and a tighter crop would probably be better.

Awesome Barbara, extremely artistic. I hear what Gary is saying but I think the negative space works for this image. No nits, excellent work. :toast:

I like your composition. That electric blue is a neat addition.

Thanks, everyone. Mark, the blue also happened with the boost in contrast. Water and color and light are pretty amazing to me.
