Maroon Bells, Colorado

It's been a long time since my last photo post. Ugggh. Just haven't been out shooting at all. Hopefully, I'll have some new stuff here soon, but I just needed to post something. Got the itch, you know?

This is from 2007 when I shot with a 1DSmk1. The details just aren't there, but the soft light, low clouds and mist may just help to conceal the lack of crispness in the distant leaves. Yeah, this isn't a keeper in my opinion, but it caught my eye this morning for some unknown reason. Hope all is well with all of you great photogs on npn.

A fine, moody look at this icon. Sometimes, details get in the way of a larger picture. This would be a keeper in my portfolio, if only as a reminder to go back for another try and another look.

Lovely light and mood, Jimmy - very Bierstadt-esque.

If you're not keeping it, can I have it? I like how the clouds add a softness to this photo. :toast:

I think this is a rather unique shot for this location, the clouds concealing the Bells almost make them unrecognizable. Lots of drama in there...I think it's a keeper! My only qualm is the bit of cyan in the upper left corner...otherwise I think this is incredibly sweet

JG, I think this is absolute crap! Send me the master file and I will properly dispose of it for you.

Cool mood image and a nice different look from that icon spot. I think I am with Jake about the bright sky area on the left, kind of drains the mood just a touch, but that is nitty. Strikes me as a good addition your your portfolio.

Well if you don't want it I'll take it off your hands!! Granted it is not as strong as many of the photos in your portfolio but it is a unique take on the Bells. I like the mystery here with the hint of light on the Sleeping Sexton. The autumn colors add even more to this.

I really like the mood created in this image. I think it is a keeper for sure. It draws me in. Sometimes the images that we think are not so technically perfect have the moody feeling that draw people in. Fine image.

I think the Maroon Bells and Mt. Shuksan run neck and neck for the title of "Most Photographed Mountain Scene In The World".
It's refreshing to see something special and different from places like this. I think you succeeded beautifully Jimmy!

The fog adds a sense of mystery you don't often see from this location, and the softness actually adds to the shot, IMO. I agree with Andreas, very Bierstadt-esque for sure. A keeper in my opinion!

Very special light, Jimmy, and detail and sharpness don't seem all that important with this great comp and light.

Here's a reduced cyan version. Thanks for the feedback. This may look ok on a canvas after all.

Hey Jimmy, it's nice to see something different from here. I think I like the first better but it's just a matter of opinion. Very moody shot with a great reflection. Would look great on canvas to project an artistic look. Nice work!

Cool! The fog is awesome. I have a few shots of the Bells in the fog, and they're among my favorites, but for whatever reason they don,t seem particularly popular with the 'crowd'--maybe as photographers we tend to appreciate these moody scenes more.

Yeah, that sucks, you might want to push delete! I think you must have been being overly critical again. This is actually very nice. Maybe the flaws are not visible here at this size? Anyway, with the fog and all, details might not be as important. It sure has mood, and visual impact!

It may be an icon but you rarely see it in these conditions! Wonderful light and mists! Perhaps a slight CW rotation? :toast:

I think the soft focus is the key to the magic of this shot. Everything just seems to melt into one another like a dreamy unified landscape.
