Busy Parents
by Christine Jackson
After getting special permission to stay out after dark in order to capture star trails at the Pawnee National Grasslands State Park here in Colorado, I thought I would try to capture some birds with my new lens and camera. These birds are a type of sparrow I believe, and I enjoyed watching them for the better part of an hour. Each time they perched on this yucca, one of them would have a mouth-full of grasshopper (I'm guessing there may have been a nest nearby, because they kept disappearing over the ridge and then reappearing on this yucca).
This was great fun, even though the star trails didn't turn out. All comments/critiques welcome.

Great question Keith--I was about 30-40 feet away from the birds, and was using the 7D in manual mode with a burst of 9 fps (playing with the camera to see what it would do).
Thanks for comments, Keith and John.
