St. Ann's Pebbles

Here is an image from St. Ann's Bay on the sunrise side of the Cape Breton Island at of course, sunrise taken last October in Nova Scotia Canada. These stones are not pebbles at all and are actually quite large. The light was pretty harsh this particular morning and this was taken after the sun rose above the horizon. Luckily there was a big cloud in the sky to help tame the light somewhat. Not sure this is going to work for everyone. Usually the light here on this cobble beach is more subdued, even in mid morning light. Thanks for having a look. Interested in your thoughts.

This works for me primarily because it's in b&w medium. Great choice, and I really like the light rays coming from above the cloud. I'm torn whether some texture should be re-introduced into the overexposed reflection on the sea. That area doesn't really bother me, though.
Nice capture!

It works for me Eva. I often use the cloud dilution technique to photograph directly into the sun it gives a lovely rimlight around the wet pebbles. and the star burst effect of a small aperture.

Wow! I love this shot Eva. I really like the b/w for this. You really used that cloud to your advantage in making this shot. Excellent work! You have an amazing collection of these seascapes.

Beautiful shot, Eva! Like the textures and the sun star. What would you think about a 10% crop off the top and left?

Love the sun rays from behind the cloud, and the cloud detail is fabulous. I like the rocky fg and angled shoreline. It feels the shadows in the rocks are a bit too open, creating more greyer tones than black, but it's only my personal tastes. A lovely b&w image, Eva!

Works for me! Nice conversion too. I might play with the curves a little and see if you can deepen the mids a bit, but not really necessary. Light rays are sweet here.

This is great, Eva--beautiful scene! I think i would go for some richer blacks here, maybe deepen the mids too. :wavey:

This works for me—the angle, single low cloud, star of sunlight, and rocks. Nice.
