Photo was taken in the Atchafalaya basin in early April. Bird is truyly magnificant and to the best of my ablility I tried to capture detail without the exception of feet..however I figure feet are least important..chuckle..I know mine aren't.
Pre breeding..waiting on its mate the two were constructind a nest if one calls it a nest..these birds ara very nosisy..after seemed like eternity I told me self it wasn't gonna get any better than what I saw so I took the shot...
Shot with a Canon 5D MkII..using a 600mm IS @ f8, 2500s..ISO800..
tri pod mounted..out of a boat..

Such beautiful birds, and well captured here. I don't miss the feet, my attention was immediately drawn to the beautiful pink plumage and the detail in the head. The bushy foliage at the bottom left that covers the feet does give a nice feel of the habitat for the shot too. :toast:

The shades of pink and red are so attractive in this shot. I don't miss the feet at all. Lovely exposure.

Exceptionally sharp and well exposed bird. I might have toned down the lighter foliage in the upper right corner. :toast:

Lovely colors that look spot on. Seems to be some good detail in the eye. You should post a larger version for evaluation.
