Oman Sunset (with re-post)

This shot was taken in Oman (Jabal Salakh region) last spring. I've previously posted a number of desert photographs from that trip, so this one's a bit different. It was taken during a short hike onto a mountain (or large hill?) near the last campsite of said trip. The processing is on the punchy side for my standards, but I'm curious what you think.

Techs: Nikon D90, 12-24/4 DX, blend of two exposures, handheld (forgot the tripod in the car at the base of the mountain... whoops).

Thanks for looking & commenting!

It's strange that it has an overall cool look to me when I think it should look warmer. Not a problem, just an observation. The color of the foreground rocks may be the reason. I think the blend works well, especially only needing two exposures to get this result.

this is good Basil, i like the colors in FG, maybe the color of the sky doesn't match the overall scene

i will visit this place one day

thanks for sharing

The blend works well here. I agree with Chris's comment about the cool look of this image when it is supposed to look warmer.

I really like the light and the overall sense of desert and heat.

Thanks for all the comments! I agree on the unexpectedly cool look, but in fact, what is shown above is already significantly warmed up! I've attached another variant that's got even more red and yellow added to the foreground. I think that one factor contributing to this might be the nature of the rock. We expect rock to have a certain color in some given light, but this stuff was not quite like the rock I'm used to from Europe... just a wild guess, though.

Wonderful dusty atmosphere, and the way those bushes stand out is quite beautiful. The cyans seem just a touch strong - perhaps the same critique as Chris.

I like the warmed up version better. Seems more 'normal' to me. The hazy atmosphere is wonderful. Nice image

I think the second one feels more natural. The warmth of the sun on view and arid landscape is wonderfully captured.
