Snowy Running on Beach

Another Snowy image from Torrey Pines, Ca. I like this image even though it is cropped to 40% of the original because of the action. The snowys would run from one point on the beach to the other if it looked like another was catching sand crabs.

The head is not burnt out on the computer but the bright sun through very thin high clouds.

These are fun birds because they are more active than their bigger cousins and I enjoy watching them feed. Your image captures some of that activity.

The light looks like it was a problem here - the shadows under the egret makes it look close to mid day. Photographing these white birds works best when the light is softest as it is just after dawn. I don't know how the metering works in this situation on a Canon but I can't imagine any situation where I'd go with plus compensation using my Nikons.

The light looks a bit harsh, but most of your exposure is ok. I am seeing a yellow tint on the bird, especially underneath. Other than the foot, I don't see yellow light reflecting? I very much like the action you caught...they are fun to watch! And, I like the water drops off the trailing foot. Sharon

Tough shot to get mid day! I really love the fact that the bird was running on the beach. I usually see them stalking something to eat! :toast:

I love snowys and saw some on the beach (maybe this one) when I was down there, but didn't get any images as nice as this one. Great action, and I really like the flying water drops.

The action is nice and the focus is nice, but the light looks pretty harsh.

Fun image, Skip. I don't think of these birds as ever running, but the pose certainly transmits the feel of it.

He looks like he is moving pretty fast. Must have been some good grub going on down the beach. Has some yellow cast to it.

Nice action photo, like the water drops kicked up by left leg.
