Eagle fishing
by Mark Turner
We spent the night on the Northern Song, anchored in beautiful Red Bluff Bay, AK near Petersburg. We woke up in the morning to an absolutey gorgeous morning with glass calm water, fog hovering over the water, eagles flying overhead, some coastal browns grazing on shore and Schmidt (sp?)Falls flowing not more than 100 yards off our stern. This was what I came up here for!! We could have spent the entire week in this bay and been totally engaged in all that it had to offer. We took the skiff out and found this eagle perched near the mouth of a stream with salmon getting into position for the spawn. I was pleased with how sharp it came out considering I was hand holding my big lens in an inflatable skiff. Thanks for looking. C and C always welcome.

Kudos.
Incredible picture of an incredible bird. You said that you took the picture from a skiff and there does not appear to be much of an upward angle on the photo. Was the Eagle low in the tree? Thanks for sharing because I will never get tired of looking at photos of Eagles, esp. ones like this.
Yes, the eagle was quite low in the tree. Also, with my 500mm with the 1.4x on a 1.6x sensor, we were able to stay some distance from the tree keeping the upward angle to a minimum. Thanks for the comments. I'm going to work with the image and try some of the suggestions.
