San Francisco Peaks

The San Francisco Peaks as viewed from Flagstaff is town's most beloved icon. Being a Flagstaff native, capturing this view has always been a goal of mine, and one that has seemed quite elusive. I will be moving away from Flagstaff in two weeks, so getting a worthwhile shot of this view seemed even more pressing. Fortunately, this evening I got something I think to be at least somewhat satisfactory. The comp is very traditional, and the processing subdued, so it may very well be overlooked by many, but this is a scene that is very dear to my heart. Of course, critiques are welcome, as well as compliments  Thanks to Joel Hazelton for critiquing this for me before posting here!

Beautiful scene Jake. Everything looks to be placed perfectly in the composition. Large version is especially nice.

The clarity, processing, and overall color seem to be very accurate and is a noticeable improvement over some of your recent posts. The subtle composition works well too. You might consider evening out the colors in the sky a bit more, most notably the upper right corner. Good work Jake.

Pretty scene and it looks like a nice place to spend the afternoon. I have an aunt in Flagstaff, but I haven't been there since I was a kid.

Classic silhouette for anyone familiar with Flag, though I'm not entirely sure of this viewpoint. Where you heading? You're going to really miss this part of the country if it's very far.

Tony, I'm only moving to the Phoenix area...so not very far really. Thanks everyone for the compliments!

Hey Jake - Sorry to hear you're leaving, we never even met! This definitely is a classic view of the peaks, is it from Buffalo Park? I agree that the sky needs a bit of evening out but over all a nice shot of the Peaks with a nice glow to it.

Hi Rick, not quite Buffalo Park, it was actually the meadow on the north side Forest Ave, opposite side of the road from your construction site. Cars passing by could see me shooting!
