The female Ural owl looks very peaceful but here she is attacking my friend who was climbing in her home tree. The picture was taken last year in connection to ringing of her chics.

Tremendous shot! Its unfortunate that the left wing is partially obscured. :toast:

Thanks for your comments. I´m glad you like it.
The trees and branches both in background and in front of the owl made focusing tricky. It is not obvios on the picture but the owl is very quick.
Personally I like to show the real habitat on my pictures so the branches in the foreground is not a problem for me as long as they don´t cover the face of the owl. It is stimulating and developing to hear other photographes opinions.

I like this very much, it is great to see a behavioural shot, the bird in the natural habitat :toast:

I good reason to enjoy nesting owls from a distance. I hope you and your friend backed off the nest a bit after this encounter. Otherwise a very nice shot with a lesson! To quote one of my local birding buddies "There is nothing whinny the poo about momma owl protecting her own". :toast:

Excellent shot. I agree with your perspective about the foreground branches partially blocking the wing and the habitat. This kind of thing bothers me not at all.
