Firecracker

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted August 19, 201175 views9 comments

Noticed this very colorful male Firecracker Skimmer in my son's backyard. Worked to get the subject in the light and background in the shade and hold still long enough for this handheld shot. Spot metered. Nikon 105 f2.8, VR on. Hope you like it, C&Cs always welcome.

Russ, if these are the real colors of grass and dragonfly, that's amazing. Well seen and captured. Good job on the dark background, especially with these colors. I think any other background would have been too much.

Yup, it's all real. Just some minor processing in Lightroom 3 to get exactly what I saw..

You've worked hard on the color and that is what makes this effective, Russ. I like the contrst with the background.

Russell:
Beautiful portrait on a nice perch. The light is great and the details are nice. Well done.
