This actually was meant to be a hummingbird image. The hummingbirds didn't show up but a few bees did. The original image here included only one bee. All of the others are clones: flipped, scaled, rotated and fuzzified with a paintbrush in Painter 12. A paintbrush entitled "image nozzle" that allows images to be sprayed onto the canvas helped too along with the usual tools in CS5. .A book entitled "The Sex Life of Plants" by A. Bristow provided the inspiration for this image... and the title.

I had fun creating this image. I hope that you enjoy it. All comments most welcome.

Here are the techs on the original image:

1D Mark IV, 400 mm f/5.6, 1.4x TC, hand held: ISO 1250, 1/1000 s, f/8, -1/3 EV, 6.3 MP (39% of 16 MP full frame), NR, exposure adjustment, sharpening.

Kind of like "The Birds" only this time with bees. A really fun image.

Steve, thanks for posting this image. Very fun and so creative. I need to create an image for a "Creative Altered Reality" category in a print competition and you've just given me a great idea. Thanks! I'm glad it wasn't censored.
