Glacier View Sunrise

I just returned from a 10 day trip to Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks. There were so many amazing things to see and do in this area that 10 days went by very quickly!

Here is a sunrise image of the Tetons from Glacier View. Grand Teton (13770 feet) is just right of center. Pretty standard light, but the beauty of the Tetons makes up for the lack of clouds/sunrise light.

Nikon D7000, 18-200mm Nikkor dx at 42mm, polarizer
1/6 sec at f/8, ISO 100

I'm not sure what your intent was with this composition but my impression is that this really speaks of the scale of the Tetons as they tower above the surrounding landscape. Although epic lighting conditions are wonderful not every photo needs to have this kind of light to be compelling. I think this is a fine shot and one to be proud of. Thanks for sharing!!

I really like this one Scott, a solid "classic" composition that departs from the big fg elements that are in vogue now. At first I thought the lines at about 1/3 from the bottom were a little distracting but after absorbing it for awhile I don't think they are. They add a nice geometry that I like.

Yes, this is pretty straight forward for the Tetons. But still, I am really enjoying the quality of this image. The detail and depth is so good! I went there on my first trip out with the D200 when I bought it. All cocky thinking I had a good camera and I'd just go and get me some great images. Well, they weren't all that bad until I tried to process them, and then not save as copies, duh. Oh well, we live and learn I guess.

This is such an amazing view that it's hard not to be impressed. Even better in person, of course, but the massiveness of these mountains comes through even in pictures.

You have captured the "grandness" of them very well. You captured a good image without spectacular light. Well done.

A beautiful image, Scott. The soft glow of warm light on the peaks is really beautiful. Fabulous color and detail.
