Sequim Lavender

I liked the way a line of light filtered across these rows of lavender through shade from a nearby row of trees. I tried to isolate the highlighted area with selective focus and this is the result. As always, I look forward to your feedback. Canon EOS 40D; 1/160 @ f/5.6, 135mm; ISO 200.

I like this - effective use of shallow focus. It reminds me a little of the work of Freeman Patterson, who I haven't thought of in 20-30 years!

Craig,

Very impressionistic. Very creative combination of layered light and selective focus. I like it.

Nice demonstration of layers made by selective focus. Good use of available light, also.

Craig,

I like this a lot. Beautiful color and I love the composition. I'll come back to study this off and on. I wish it were mine. Very fine work.

I like the arc of light on the lavender, and the shallow focus. I like how the arc is repeated by the OOF greenery.

An original (at least to me) impressionistic take on the Seqium Lavendar flower fields. I love this. :toast:

In focus area also looks as if its lit differently (& better). Obviously an illusion but I like it. Cleverly placed plane of focus.

Really enjoying the impressionistic look, feel and mood of this image Chis. Almost a pointalist painting.

Most probably for my tastes only I find in the larger version the OOF immediate foreground a little distracting. A little stumbling block to entering the image. Making this area a little darker would probably solve it for me.

Craig: This is fascinating and IMO really well seen and executed. Matching the focus to the light is brilliant. Really nice work. >=))>
