Weasel

Was out shooting birds when this little guy popped out of a rusty pipe a couple of feet below where I was standing. I like the way he's resting his paw on the pipe as he's checking me out. Kind of cute for a weasel.

Canon 7D
100-400 mm @100 mm
1/1000 @f5.6
-0.33 EV
400 ISO

Thanks for looking. C&C appreciated.

Right time, right place!!

If you have sufficient IQ I would be tempted to crop out as much of the pipe as possible.

Allen, I think ALL weasels are cute. Funny thing is, these guys re fast as lightning and every time I have seen one they are gone by the time I even point my lens, so this one would have made me giddy. I do wish it wasn't such a top to bottom angle though, but knowing how fast they take-off, not sire that was an option for you.

It's a cute capture !
I would have preferred some more room at the top and lesser room at the bottom.

It is cute, Allen! Great that you managed to take this shot! I really like the pose of the weasel and yo decision for a portrait format is well chosen. :toast:

These guys are so quick and uncommonly seen close, that to get the focus on the eyes was an accomplishment in itself! Congrats on the sighting. I think I would crop to minimize the pipe, but it is what it is and you caught the moment.

It is indeed cute how its twisting out of the pipe to check you out. Nice job on the getting a clean shot, they dont stick around very long. I might crop a tiny bit from the very bottom, but still keep enough to show the form of the pipe.

Not an easy animal to get an image of. Nice to have him so cooperative. Great focus on the face and very nice pose. Great experience.
