White Woodpecker
by Nate Chappell
Hi everyone, I returned last weekend from a great trip to Argentina and came down with a cold, today I finally got around to viewing and editing a few images from the trip. This was taken on my last full day of bird photography in the Ibera Marshes. We were very lucky to get a group of these birds down low in a farmers field. This species is in the same genus as the Acorn Woodpecker and has some of the same behaviors - flocking, being quite vocal and animated. This is full frame.
The Ibera Marshes rank with the Pantanal in Brazil and the Llanos in Venezuela as the most important wetlands for birds and wildlife in South America.
