Oil field (II)

This shot was taken in the same place as the one posted a few weeks ago. I contrast to that previous shot, I think that this one here has some weird esthetics to it, with all those parallel lines and the apparent symmetry of the pipe layout. However, the smoke plumes in the background remind us of what we're looking at...

Techs: Nikon D300, 17-55/2.8 DX, handheld.

Please let me know what you think.

This is a striking comp of a strong setting. Somehow the previous shot is stronger to me- perhaps due to the two trucks- but this one give more of a sense of the "expanse" of the facility on the landscape. I like the way the pipes lead my eye into the background, then the smoke leads it laterally to the torches on the right.

Like Hank I feel your previous shot from this location was a bit stronger. I like both of them though. The contrast of the dark pipes against the white sand, the distant smokestacks, etc. I could see a series of these (and perhaps that is your intent) working very well together.

I didn't see the previous image but I love the dynamism and internet of this one.
