We watched many giant kingfishers at Biyamiti weir, but only once did one perch on a natural feature.

That's once more than I've ever seen them on a natural perch! Great picture, Neil. No nits from me.

Thats a cracking shot of a stunning looking bird, the colours of the BG and perch work well together. The large version looks great, what sort of size is the KF. No nits from me too, and nicely done, Neil.

Thanks guys, sorry forgot that the weir is in Kruger park, right here: http://maps.google.co.za/?ll=-25.367464,31.577293&spn=0.003626,0.006121&t=h&z=18&vpsrc=6 ;)

My book tells me they are around 44cm long, compared to the 18cm of the British variety it is a giant!

Neil

An absolute cracking shot and posing.

I only ever seem to see KF on a wire cable.

a nice looking bird, well taken. It's difficult to judge the scale from this, I would have assumed it was similar in size to our KFs!
