Frigid Fire

I've been pretty much out of circulation on NPN for some time so I'm catching up from last winter. This was take at approximately -15°F but the sky sure warmed things up! Taken roughly 30 miles West of Glenallen, Alaska.

The larger version has a lot more presence.

Sony R1, ISO-160, f7.1, 1/60, tripod.

Amazing sky Gary and I love the deep views. The snow patterns form a wide S curve that lead the viewer nicely through he scene. I could see slightly darkening the lower right hand corner and maybe cloning that bit of white sky just above it. Those are super minor suggestions. Fantastic work. Glad to see you posting here again.

That is one amazing sky! I also agree with Michael about cloning out the white bit of sky on the left. Other than that nice pic.

Color pops!!!

I like the reflection of the color in the snow on the larger version.

Silhouette effect of the trees is pleasing.

Wonder if the snow could be made a tad whiter???

Very impressive.

I like the rich color and faint glow of light reflecting off the snow Gary.

Well, welcome back Gary. Nice to have you put up an image here - and what gorgeous sky to mark your comeback! I really like the silhouettes and spacing of the trees as well as the soft glow on the frozen lake.

Not really a nit, but I might be inclined to either crop/clone the little patch of sky on the right as someone has mentioned. I think crop from the right would also take out the little soft white triangle in the LRC. Hardly a big deal, but thought I would mention.

Beautiful color and an intense sky.

Yeah, what a sky! Love the coverage of intense color you caught. I also like the reflected color on the frozen lake. I might try to bring that out just a little more.
