Wow! Excellent observation again! The texture is also wonderful. My only nit is the sky is too dark for my taste, although I know some people like such moon-like red filter effects.

Thanks, Yiming. I was trying to have a mid-night feel. Maybe over did a little

OK, John, then it's a different story

The other untold story is that sky turned uneven with bands of shades unless I push the blue darker. I'll try again.

IMO, the dark sky doesn't detract from the scene. the way the tops of the hoo doos fade in and out of it adds to the otherworldliness (is that a word?) I like this as a fascinating study of light and dark.

I would like to see some gray tones in the upper reaches of the rock; they look disconnected.
Otherwise, good stuff.

John,
I really like the setup and presentation here and the way you've crafted this composition; very effective. My only nit would be the shadows at the top of the hoodoos basically merging with the sky. Don't mind the dark sky at all, but as someone else mentioned, the top seem cut off or more like floating above the formation rather than being connected. so if you could someone manage to get some tone difference between the hoodoo shadow and the sky to separate them, this would be excellent. Also, my only other suggestion would be cropping the top down to a square format which I think suits your comp and subject matter better than having all the open, empty sky above. Just a thought.
