Cinnamon-rumped Trogon

From a rain-forest in Malaysia a couple of days ago. This is the most difficult of all the South-East Asian Trogons to find, and is the most sought-after. This Trogon is very similar in appearance to the Scarlet-rumped Trogon, and a front view one cannot tell the difference. A 'back' view is the only way to distinguish the two.

1D MkIV, 700mm, 1/80 @ f7.1, ISO1250, tripod, morning shaded light with manual fill. Cloned tiny flash pinpoint catchlight. Laptop processed.

A beautiful bird, well captured. The comp is superb. I really can't tell much about the detail at this size, but the beak appears to have a little motion blur.

Beautiful shot of this gorgeous iconic bird. You were so fortunate to find it. I like the habitat part of it.

Wow, what a character. You can see just by the look of this bird why it's sought after... facially it looks different from most other trogons I've seen.

Very similar indeed to the Scarlet-Rumped KC, and it's one Trogon that I never caught sight of myself. Ddi you see - better still, photograph - the female? As you probably know her colouration is somewhat different from the male's and very attractive too.

Hope you had a great time in Malaysia this trip and looking forward to seeing more of the images you surely came back with :^)
