My local camera club is getting a group of members together to try pinhole photography, so I thought I would give it a try. I purchased a pinhole lens cap as I didn't want to try to make my own. My camera was set on Manual and "bulb" so I could use the cable release to keep the shutter open for an extended exposure.

The original image looked pretty good, but I'm not one to just leave things alone, so I used Topaz Simplify-Painting Colorful to give it this very colorful look.

Have you tried pinhole photography? I remember making my own camera, many, many years ago, out of an oatmeal box, but I found a company who makes pinhole lens caps especially for digital cameras. I think it's amazing what effects I'm able to achieve without a lens. Very fun ... I'll be doing more work with this pinhole lens cap. But I wanted to post this image as it's one of the first ones I've taken just using a pinhole lens cap. Camera is a Nikon D7000, on tripod, no lens other than a pinhole lens cap.

Comments always appreciated.

Thanks for all the comments. I am back on the road today to try more pinhole photography. It definitely is a challenge, but then I love a challenge. I wanted to post the original image so you can see how soft the image is just straight out of the camera. I need to have a longer exposure to get more light, but then it's all about trial and error. This is the original image just using a pinhole lens body cap. Thanks again for your feedback. Will post more as I work with this technique.
