Osprey bail out

This osprey was diving on a fish when it changed its mind and pulled out of the dive. This image is just as the osprey started to stop its dive. I like the look at the bird and the BG in this image. Please view the larger version for max detail. Thanks.

Most excellent image Ron! Love the wing position. Since the eyes are still an orange color I would assume it's still a youngster?

Awesome work Ron! I love the approaches these raptors make when diving, etc, and your capture here is exceptional.

Great looks at the wings and I like the overall pose, Ron. One of the best I've seen to convey just how much wing there is compared to the body in this species. Very cool action too.

I do like the BG better in this one, it offers a good sense of environment..

Excellent flight (or should I say dive) shot and wonderful timing to get this pose. For me, this really shows the aerodynamics and wing design which when I watch some birds it is really amazing how they can maneuver. Stunning shot Ron, way to go.

To catch an Osprey in mid-dive like this has to be one of the most difficult captures of all. I know I've never managed it, despite many, many attempts.

A toast to you, Sir! :toast:

Excellent image. The bird is in a strange position for an osprey which makes it fairly unique. Nice job.

Ron,
You're killing me. Another bute. I knew you would get a weekly pick with that last shot and this one is almost as good. :toast:

This is great Ron - it's not often we see such a wonderful topside look at an Osprey and since it's given up on the dive, the head is in such a position that we see the eye very well too. Love the dynamics of the flight posture and I like the background too. Exceptionally nice.
