Haven't been shooting much because of work and other things but re-worked this image from last winter. The tide was out so no good wave action but the sky was great.

Nice colors. I like the simplicity and the fg texture.

I do too (the texture). I also love the sky--gorgeous hues. I'm not quite sold on the two together, mainly because i think the fg subjects don't appeal to me nearly as much as the sky--for example, if i crop this just for a long pano of the top (crop bottom 2/3)--that would be one of the coolest beach scenes i can imagine--simple, bold, a strong statement. Maybe too quirky for some, but for me it would be art. The shot as presented is a pretty, well-composed shot, but it seems comparatively ordinary. :wavey:

Stan, always appreciate your insights. Never thought of a more abstract approach and after I played a bit think you were dead on... I cloned out some of the buildings on the right to make it seem a desolate stretch of beach and lightened it up a bit, which seemed fitting since it was dominated by sky...what do you think? Thanks!

I like how the sand picks up the sky color and has the same spectrum.

Nice comp, and I love the sky color. I find the FG a bit uninteresting - I wonder if a lower perspective would help that.

I like both images Reed. However the replayed pano is a real winner IMHO.

I like the pano idea, but I think crop (from the original) to just above the f/g rocks. This will give a bit more space for that rock on the left and final pano will be approx 2/3 sand 1/3 sky, just my opinion

Reed,

I like the coastal image well enough and the color is really nice. But the pano really works for me in it's simplicity and even more accentuation on the colors. I think the original is just missing something - either more interesting patterns in the wet sand or reflections, or something. also the rock formation looks a little soft so maybe that's throwing me off. I like the composition. But the pan really takes the scene up a notch for me.
