Early one morning end of july a packed my gear and drove the one hour drive from Solothurn to Etang de la Gruère, a small pond on the plains in the Jura Mountain region in the western part of switzerland. When I got to this small pond it was about 5am and still darkest night. I've been there several times before so i knew where I want to set up my camera. And then I waited for daybreak. There was fog arising just above the water and the sky turned yellow and red.......interesting clouds in the sky....

Techs:Nikon D700, 16-35mm lens (@20mm), ISO 200, f 14, 6 sec, ND Grad Filter

Thanks for any comments and thoughts.

i Bill - I like the quiet beauty and solitude portrayed in your image. Gorgeous subtle color as well.

Bill this is the picture of serenity, pardon the pun. Beautiful. Might consider leveling the waterline, even if that's not reality.

Bill, your image makes me feel like standing in the middle of the scene. It reflects all the tranquillity to me, and the delicate pattern in the sky makes it really interesrting for me and keeps my attention. I also appreciate the natural colors. Thanks for sharing.

Love the colour, mood and composition here...nothing in the FG that overpowers the image, but just enough to lead the eye to the real magic in the background. :toast:

This is a really moody scene. I love that sky and the mist on the water. Not much that I'd change.

Nice scene, Bill - i really like the quietness of the scene (water and graccess) accentuated by the light. For my tast tiny bit of the foreground is missing to complete and stress the curve.

The combination of the mist and the colorful sky really works here, as does the composition. An excellent shot in all respects.
