A scene from along California's central coast just before sunset on a rather bleak and colorless evening. I encourage you to view the larger version . . . I think it has much more impact, and you'll be more easily able to see the two foraging gulls (down just a bit from the top in the middle of the frame) that contribute a sense of scale to this scene. All comments and critiques greatly appreciated!

Canon 5DII, 70-200L at 122mm, f/11, 2.5 seconds; Singh-Ray LB Warming Polarizer.

Yes Phil, the larger version does have more impact. Love that wave action you captured!

Appropriate title to this. Certainly with the lack of warmth in the light and the cold, steely color to the water, one (at least I do) gets a sense of this being a tough place to eek out an existence. Not one's image of sunny California. Nice photo. - Peter

Excellent composition; as you noted, the gulls provide a great sense of scale. A very dynamic and engaging capture.

The birds do add a good sense of scale to this. I couldn't tell how large these shelfs are without that larger view. Nice layered comp, light, and wave action.

Very nice Phil. The gulls indeed offer a sense of the grand scale of this scene. Otherwise, I would be wondering about the size of the rocks and waves. Nice comp and use of light.

Phil, what I do like is the color of the sea and the motion of the waves. Your image reflects the forces of nature impressively to me.

Phil, I like everything about this image. Composition, exposure, and your choice of timing. Beautiful scenery to behold in person, but sometimes difficult to convey in imagery. I think this image is quite successful.

The wave action is great and the drips from the foreground rock add an interesting touch. Nice job of seeing.

The comp and textures really make this, Phil. I like the way the white water sets off the fingers of rock.

Nice balance between the stark fingers of rock and the energy of the waves. The detail in the larger image is excellent.

Very nice Phil. You are right in that the large version has more impact. I enjoyed that very much. Excellent dertail and I really like the water action. I think your shutter speed worked great here. Nice work!
