Buttermilk Storm

From last year at about this same time, buddy Marc and I woke to a fairly nasty storm camping out in the Buttermilks near Bishop. We had a great weekend shooting fall colors around the Eastern Sierra so we weren't too disappointed with this morning's weather. Besides, we also got some great sunrise shots this same morning along the Owen's River.

We then spent some time shooting around the Buttermilks in a light (but freezing) rain before heading home. Our timing was good last year, but so far I have not been able to get to my favorite stomping grounds and I'm really missing it. Check the weather and fall color reports, make your plans, and go if you can! Nothing like Fall in the Eastern Sierra!

Hope you have a great weekend getting out there and thanks for having a look!

Jean, I like the sky and the FG interest. Looks as though it's coming in at any moment. You didn't mention what you were shooting with but I bet you could bring out some dramatic ranges in that sky.

Regards,

Carol

Very good colors in the foreground bushes, and the shallow U of the boulders does well to channel the eyes. Wonder if you could increase the contrast in the clouds to enhance the sense of storminess you already have.

A fine landscape. Good use of the contrasting colour of the flowers against the blue storm clouds.

Thanks so much for the kind comments and critiques. As per your suggestions, I did go back and deepen the shadowed areas of the clouds just a bit.
