Jay, taken with a Canon 7D, 600mm f/4. Settings: manual exposure, f/11, 1/250 sec, ISO 400.

Imported with ACR, processed and sharpened in Photoshop CS5: curves, brightness, contrast, full frame. Very minor cloning to one foot and to the beak.

Huge thanks to Phil Shaw for making this photo possible. :toast:

Thanks for the comments and help so far. C's & c's very welcome as always.

Thanks,

Paul.

That's a cracker! Beautiful pose, great perch and background. My only suggestion would be to remove the white blobs on the perch and tone down the yellow spot top right. I love it!

That's a fine shot, Paul. If it were mine, I would sacrifice a little space left of the bird so that I could have more on the right for it to look into.

It looks a little too blue to me. I wonder what a levels adjustment in the red and green channels would do to the overall colour? You could use a layer mask to preserve the blue in the wing and eye. For printing I would crop the bottom part of the frame so that the rightmost point of the side branch formed the base of the composition.

Interesting comments Phil
I downloaded the large version and checked it and the whites seemed about OK by my calcs. Maybe my monitors wrong.
Certainly not showing a blue bias. Others views would be useful before I re calibrate.
Cheers
