Northern Parula

Another image from my recent Cape May trip. I did my best to follow these hyperactive warblers, but many images ended up being odd poses with blurred wings or heads as they were constantly flitting about looking for insects. When I downloaded the images, I was happy to find a few that were reasonably sharp.

I like the pose in this one, although I wish the tail and legs were sharper. The lighting was less than ideal with overcast skies and being in a wooded area.

I welcome all comments & critiques. I am here to learn.

A nice pose with good color. I agree with your self critique. I am wondering if you had a little camera shake, even if it was tripod mounted. It feels a little soft all over

You're probably right Phil. Right now, all I have is a ball head that I leave loose to track the subject easier. At 1/100 sec, camera shake is a very real posibility.

I love the pose and the setting on this with the holly? leaves. They are tough to keep still, so you get bonus points for the species! Sharon

An awesome Northern Parula image. Hey, don't knock those overcast days for warbler photography - digital excels in those conditions; embrace it. Overcast means forgetting about the sun angle and focusing on these fast and elusive gems.

Nice image: great colours and excellent detail- I hope your new D300s has been a good choice ( ), with 300 f4 + 1,7 TC is a great birding combo- Thanks for sharing, Fabio
