Capturing Wilderness

My hiking partner, Dave is capturing a view of an Adirondack Wilderness Area, but he is standing an area classified as "Primative Area." That straight brush line running from center right into the frame is an old railroad bed that separates the two areas. I think it's one of the things that kept the whole area from being classified as Wilderness. Since that rather heavy "hand of man" element is there, I thought I might as well post this shot with my hiking partner, rather than one of the plain landscape shots. I think a person in the frame often improves a landscape view.

I love the grassy wetlands (lots of sedges, actually) along this part of the Bog River, but they are especially nice in the fall when they turn golden brown, contrasting with the blue sky reflected in the river.

That is a beautiful place, Wayne. The fall color looks great, especially with the wet lands in there. I think this picture works really well with Dave in it. Adds a nice feel.

Beautiful color Wayne! I especially like the contrasting blues in the water running through the scene. Gorgeous work. I know this is the Adirondacks, but I used to going hiking in the Catskills in my youth and this so reminds me of the times and glorious autumn days.

Spectacular colors, Wayne, and the river winding through holds it all together. Including your hiking partner adds human interest and perspective. I could also see this looking good without the human touch.

You easterners with your grand sweeps of color... sheesh! Nice job to add the human touch to the vista.
