Love-hate relationship

The love-hate relationship between ox-peckers and the mammals they feed on has always interested me. This was the very first time I had seen an ox-pecker perching on the eye lid of a mammal. Surely that really had to hurt.

Thanks for looking.

David

Well seen and what a nice image. The pain is most probably worth the gain.

Excellent behavioral image! This is worthy of a contest entry.
Perfect DOF for fine detail, excellent natural colours, and a good comp. Hope you also got some with those wonderful horns fully visible.

Another cracking Oxpecker image David! I had one moment with a Giraffe momentarily going berserk flipping it's head up and down and left and right trying to rid itself of an Oxpecker who seemed determined to catch ahold of it's face, trouble was that this was on one of those poorly lit days I had in the Kruger, so each capture I got was blurred to the extent of making it obvious blurred movement was not my intention, if you know what I mean, otherwise I'd be suggesting you and I get together to publish a small coffee-table book of annoying Oxpecker shots - LOL ;^)

Amazing capture! I'm surprised the animal appears so relaxed.

Great action capture David, but what's impressing me is the softness of the light - very nice. :toast:
