Swift River Vortex
by Harry Lichtman
Not much time to photograph NH this fall, so I spent what little time I had near the Swift River where there seemed to still be some nice foliage. Overall, didn't appear to be a banner year for foliage with wind and rain. The swollen Swift River made accessibility in the river very challenging, at times dangerous. As in most years, someone drowned getting too close to the water on slippery rocks. While this river seems to draw photograpers from all over the world during foliage season, I didn't run into anyone during a couple of days in the area. Just me and the river, so sweet! Normally, views down river just aren't as impressive as you miss the cascading water over rocks, but hopefully the light here made up for that.
This was one of the more challenging blends for me - trying to avoid the HDR look while maintaining the nice shadow detail and vibrant sky that I was able to see and mysterious mood created at this time in the morning. The perfectly still conditions avoided the blurry trees in the background.
Any suggestions welcome.

Simply gorgeous. Everything is working in harmony here.
A real beauty.
Morris - I see the area adjacent to the tree trunk (midway) and agree, needs to be a bit darker to match the surrounding sky. I'll have at it!
Nice color especial in the water.
Thanks again!
