Great Spotted Woodpecker

1D Mk iv, 600mm f4, 1/125s, f6.3 (EC -2/3), Fill Flash (FEC -2.66) iso 320.

I've just set up a woodland hind with a small pool in a Scots Pine wood 10 minutes from my home - didn't know it existed! So far it looks very promising. As with most woods, lighting an be a challenge and I found it difficult to get the colours right - not sure if I have?

Colors look good but the image looks flat overall. I'd suggest a boost in contrast and levels adjustments.

I like the repost, it retains the feather detail, but has a bit more punch than the first version.

Hi Ian,

A classic and the green background is very "Scots pine" to me. The repost treatment has worked well and good use of fill flash.
Maybe add a little more to the bottom if you have it available. The "virtual" tail is only just in the frame.

Cheers

Austin
