West Fork

This was taken last weekend at a long pool in the canyon of West Fork of Oak Creek near Sedona, AZ. Used a Tokina 12-24 @ 12mm f/6.3 on a Nikon D90, and notice the upper corners appear distorted and unsharp. Also, I chose to center the foot of the pool, as opposed to off-center as posted in RMNP.

I would ask of your opinions of the corner importance and any preferences of the centered/off-center comp of the channel. Thanks.

I'm a fan of of centered on this one. Most of the interest for me is onthe right, so maybe crop to the left of the tallest pine on the left.

This looks good to me, love all those colors and the converging lines leading my eye toward them

Doug, your strong composition draws me immediately into the depth of the image. The delictae details of the trees make for an interesting contrast to the mighty rocks to me. I also appreciate the repetition of the autumn colors in the rocks. Furthermore the subsurface elements add a lot in my opinion.

Spectacular set of colors. I like the centered view of the creek and how everything comes together dead center.

At this size the corner sharpness doesn't detract from the overall image. If you are concerned about it a slight vignette may help direct the viewer's attention away from the corners. I like the composition. The wonderful reflection combined with the vibrant fall color are a great combination.

Center for me too Doug, it really pulls you in. I agree that at this resolution the corners don't seem too bad. Nice color and reflection!

Hey Doug

Nice capture here! The whole "V" formation of cliff and vegetation starting at the right hand corners moving down the creek line and around the corner is awesome! It is not that the rest of the image isn't, but the rest of the image seems to be lacking similar punch, in terms of color, shadow depth and contrast. My suggestion would be to increase those three elements in the left hand cliff formation, water and back wall, and I think the image would come alive with more depth and vibrancy.

The centered image works for me because of all the rock face detail in the water. That alone removes any thought of a centered composition. wonderful sweeping lines throughout make this full of motion. Beautiful image.
