A Heart of Ice

From this angle I thought this shape in the ice looked like a heart. Converted to b&w because the colour version sucked. We didn't notice the bears until we were leaving the area. Good thing they were too busy sucking up the abundant blueberries.
Thanks for commenting on my last post.
Cheers,Dean.

Well, the B&W certainly doesn't suck. The heart is a great lead in but I really like all of the strong geometric elements in the image. The planes and curves of the ice and the vertical slopes work well together. Nice image

Apt name...I like the strong curved lead-in and simple yet strong f/g, mid-ground textures all leading to that imposing and complex texture and light of the peak. My only small nit is I'd like to see a little more detail in the heavily shadowed areas.

For sure I like the shapes of the ice. However, I am not that taken by the upper part, especially that bleak sky.

The bottom half could be it's own image here. Really like the shape line and texture there.

I like how you composed this scene. The black & white works well here.

Cool Dean. Playing with some of the thoughts above, I think a squarish crop of the bottom is very cool.

Well done Dean. I really like this comp, and conversion to B&W looks like a good choice. Well done.

This works very well in B&W. The composition and shapes hold interest and the tones definitely say cold.
