Beethoven's Toadstool

I've misplaced the RAW file so don't have details. I have always thought the underside of this mushroom or toadstool looked like a curved piano keyboard with all white keys.

Thanks for looking and for any comments or critique you may have.

I have no suggestions here for you other than maybe it's cropped a little to tight. The the ferns or "needle like" folige around the mushroom adds a nice texture to the image and I don't think seeing more of it would be distracting. I really like the sharp patterns of the gills in the mushroom. :toast:

Is it a piano keyboard or a very fine sevre porcelain pedestal cup of creme brule at the forest cafe? Either way wonderful detail and the browns/creams of fall are supurb.

Hey Charlie, did you see my very similar photo I just posted in the macro gallery? Great minds think alike. Mushrooms are so fascinating. Love the details you've captured on this one. The gills do look like a keyboard. I like the way the one seedhead is propped against the mushroom; adds interest. Nice shot!

More space around would be nice. You should also try capture from lower angle. Otherwise a very nice image with excellent details.

Great detail, Is it growing among evergreen needles? whatever they are they add a bg texture that is very appealling here. Nice job

Charlie: Nice find and a fine capture. In the field I would have plucked away the green shoot exiting the URC and might be tempted here to try to clone it away. Otherwise this is just about perfect for my tastes. >=))>

Thanks for looking and commenting all.

Nancy this is under our mountain redwood (sequoia) tree so those are all dried needles. They are very nice and pretty uncommon background. The dried needles have built up to a mound about 3 feet thick at the trunk and this is a rich area for mushrooms.

The sharpness of the "keys" is outstanding. I also like the sense of an inner glow coming from the far side of the cap. Excellent.

Hi Charlie :wavey: Beautifully composed, with fascinating warm color and mood. I can hear the music coming from the keyboard
