This image is for my folks on whose land in eastern Washington I made this image a couple of weeks ago. Hope it isn't too busy and has enough structure to garner interest. Appreciate your thoughts and any suggestions for improvement.
4x5, 120mm macro, 81C filter(blue sky above), Provia 100F, f45, 5sec. M1 scan, TK masks.

Large image provided with fairly nice detail.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions, comments, critiques.

Love the subtle colors here Vance especially the mix of yellows and grays. The cris-cross of the pine needles add an extra dimension to the scene. Especially love the larger view which highlights the start of decay on the leaves.

I would say this offers a very "perfect" composition. It can't be better done than this. Not too busy at all. So, aesthetically, I am very convinced.
Technically, this looks a bit as if some shadow recovery was done, or if the scan lacked some contrast. Not sure how to describe it - like looking at the image through a layer of haze.
This is not meant to take away from your photo, just an observation (and easy fix).

Eva, Stan, Dietrich, thanks for the feedback. Glad you guys liked this. Dietrich, was trying to go for a very natural looking image, but I think you are quite right as it definitely seems anemic. Am trying to improve that somewhat this evening. Thanks for your suggestions.

Textures and shapes are wonderful, Vance. I would suggest a very very very minor bump in contrast...Good work. Joe.

Vance, I admire the way you extract this impressive composition to me from a plain autumn scene.

A already mentioned, it could use a bit more contrast in my opinion, but that is only a minor matter for me. Thanks for sharing.

This is nicely composed. The slightly subdued colors are perfect for the scene which is rich in texture and pattern. Good eye

Vance, This has a nice soft feel (in a good way) that is quite appealing. Not to busy at all and a great composition. It does look like it could use just a little more contrast to me, but it does have such a nice feel of autumn as it is. . :toast:

Superb grab of the intimate Vance. You have a really good eye for this. I agree that the elements are perfectly balanced.

Excellent composition Vance. The leaves, needles and pine cones all work together here to create a very interesting scene. I agree with the others about increasing the contrast just a bit.

I like the intimate view Vance. As mentioned an increase in contrast would be good.

I like the comp, but just wish the leaves were in better shape. Still another fine image, Vance.

Absolutely perfect mix of these elements. Fine work Vance! I would not change a think comp wise. As already stated personally I could see a little bump in contrast. Other than that I love it.
