I like the sharp focus of the D'fly and perch. The mildly distracting OOF objects in the BG would benefit from selective darkening, I think.

Your right Phil. The background nullifies the nice perch and sharp subject. Gotta do something about it. Thanks.

The larger image shows good detail on the beautiful DF Charlie. I do agree with Phil's suggestion to darken the BG and or reduce the saturation of the green/yellow lily pads.

Nice comp, Charlie. I would possibly experiment with a very slight crop from the bottom and right, but be sure to leave the end of the leaf not touching the bottom corner. I, too would desaturate the bright yellows. The exposure looks spot on and the detail is crisp.
Good work.

Thanks all for critique and suggestions. I've re-worked this a bit and the more I work on it, the more I like it, but also the more I see things that I think could be better. Before we all get on to other things what do you think of the changes?

Hi Charlie, when comparing the repost with the original, it seems to me you have done some evident cloning work on the BG. Personally I prefer the original BG, but would work on the suggestions brought up, such as selectively darkening and desaturating the BG only.
