Howling Pups

Thank you all for your helpful comments on my Coyote Pup, I am quite new at this and I can, and will use all of the help that I can get.

This is another shot of the pups from the den that I found, these pups howl like full grown Coyotes, I didn't realize at such a young age they would sound all grown up. There were 8 small pups and at least 4 of the older litter.

I have thought about cropping out the pup on the right side, but he is so cute! The next frame shows him falling clear over onto his back, he is working so hard to get his howl out.

It was quite a morning that I shall never forget. I hope you enjoy the pups as much as I have.

Nikon D5000, Nikkor AF-S 70-300 Lens, 1/1000 @ F5.6 ISO 450,
Handheld, Slightly Cropped, Early Morning, Spring 2011

Thanks,
Tammy

Getting the shot is only half the fun. Some of the things we learn in the field are just as exciting... :toast:

Tammy, what a great experience! This definately rates high on the cuteness factor. The out-of-focus object in the LRC is a bit distracting, but it may have been hard to avoid (depending on the circumstances).

I like the dual calling pose Tammy, very endearing. It is a pity the right pup is clipped by the edge of the frame. The BG is a little distracting, but you did well shooting wide open to reduce its impact. And besides, the cuteness factor of the pups makes it hardly a nit.

Despite being 'new at this' Tammy, please don't hesitate to jump in and comment on other people's work as well. You will be surprised that you might even learn more from that than from the comments you will receive on your images.

I think the most challenging thing in having this scene to photograph would have been to holding the camera steady enough while surely grinning, chuckling and laughing as the action unfolded, I would have loved to have seen the one on the right rolling over backward ;^)

A wonderfully endearing image Tammy, I'm sure this couldn't have been easy to frame. Must have been wonderful to witness though. Welcome to our gallery and very much looking forward to seeing more of your work in the weeks and months to come :^)
