It has been a long and busy summer for me. Life has kept me out of the field, but I am finally getting free time again and have been out a few times in the last two weeks.
So here is a shot with a touch of fall colors above a gorgeous waterfall in the gorge. I must also give credit to Scott Smorra here, his image from a week ago (

I decided not to post the image I took that is a virtual copy of his. :) I loved this location so much I might even go back next weekend to see if the colors have improved any on the trees.
This is a blend of 4 images. I probably could have gotten away with fewer, but there was very little wind, so I went nuts.
Image 1 for the foreground water
Image 2 was for the background trees above the falls and most of the rocks
Image 3 was just the main waterfall
Image 4 was for filling in the darkest shadows
All were shot at 29mm on a 5dii, polarizer, various apertures and shutter speeds

This is a great composition to display these falls, especially with the fall color behind. This photo compliments Scott's very nicely. The water flow really leads the eye in. Very nice effect with your choice of shutter speed and processing.
And John, I completely agree. When Scott's post came up my first reaction was "How have I never seen an image of those falls before?" However after climbing down to them I know why. :) Lack of a trail and steep hillsides tend to keep the crowds away. I just love how the gorge seems to keep hiding more and more surprises.
