Dragonfly with snack

Hi all, this is my first post here in the macro forum, I've done a bunch in the past in Avian but I've been shooting a good deal of macro lately and though I'm nervous seeing so much great work here I thought I'd post to get some feedback and try to improve. Saw this dragonfly at a local refuge this summer having a little grasshopper snack.

Canon 5DMII, Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro, handheld, ISO 100, 1/640 at f/9.0, natural light, small crop (maybe 15%).

Thank you for all advice and critique.

Hali ...beauty here ....and fantastic detail, colors ....and seems to be having a good meal.... the frame seems a bit too tight ...but thats a small nit for me ..well done

Fine capture- Excellent detail and a pleasant BG on this image- I'd try a tad less tight composition, but that's just a matter of tastes- Well done, Fabio

Hali:
Nice capture of this damselfly having lunch. A high quality macro image! Looks a little tight but this is just personal taste.

Wow! What gorgeous colors! The details are beautiful too. I agree with the others - the shot would benefit from a little more space around the bug. Otherwise, I love this...especially that little snack. Yum!

Wonderful color contrast between the blue and green background, nice detail on the dragonfly, I also think a little more room would help the overall composition, nice job in getting this, way to go.

This is just a superb macro photo, Hali! Great job on details on the bug and a nice blurred background. Nice comp also but do agree with others about a little more breathing room for the bug.

Thank you all for your kind comments, it's funny but I cropped it down from the original thinking there was too much room, this was the original version. Is this better?

Fine details, great colors and BG Hali.
Love the little hopper "snack", looks the damsel has just stated workin' her way down..
Head first of course
Very well done & Happy New Year to you & your family :wavey:
PS - Generally more room's better, it depends on your intent. The closer crop will reveal more of that sharp detail you have here..
