Alone

This is the same lonely barn in central Washington as the previous post but photographed about 30 minutes earlier and from the west. Again, a pre-visualized image that was developed, after scanning the 4x5, with some degree of interpretation using Tony Kuyper's masking techniques, other masks, burning, and dodging. Wanted to emphasize the loneliness and isolation of this barn amongst the fields and the big sky.
4x5, 210mm, Provia 100F. M1 scan, TK masks and others.

Large image provided.

Appreciate and thank you for your thoughts, comments, suggestions. Thank you for the comments on the last post.

Very dramatic sky and lonely scene - accomplishes well your desire to emphasize these elements.
Well done!

The color is amazing Vance. I like this better than your last post. The yellows against the steel blue sky just draw me into the scene.

That's very nice Vance this is very much the style of photography I enjoy emphasising space and light around the old barn with a sky that deserves the full attention that you have given it. Combine that with the opposing colours of yellow sinuously twisted with green and juxtaposed against a steely textured sky and it makes a truly wonderful shot. Print it large and enjoy.

Isolated it is, the golden light sets it off nicely against the dark sky.

This is great, Vance and well worthy of the WP choice! Love the dramatic sky and the sense of the wide open spaces. Excellent. Glad it got picked or I would have missed it.

Neat. It's so graphic, and the lines and forms of the building and fields are so sharp-edged. There's a feeling that something is going to happen at any second, and yet it feels peaceful. Nicely done.
