This ancient tree in Funks Grove appealled to me. I have spent some time exploring its various shapes, textures and forms. I was even saddend when wooden steps were nailed into to allow kids to climb into the lower branches. But, on second thought it gives the old tree something to do!

Canon XTi
1/100 2 f-11 ISO 200
tamron 18-200mm @ 18mm

I am puzzled by the loss of sharpness when I adjusted the image size for posting, any ideas would be appreciated.

The sharpness looks fine, John, at least on my monitor. It's a cool subject for sure, the problem i see here is that the light is not good--it looks back lit so it's almost silhouette. I don't know the light there, but if possible it would be sweet if you could get some direct light (preferably warm or low angle) and the tree itself. Just a thought

Lots of character in the old tree. I like your pov and the reach of the branches across the entire image.

Very nice structures. May be I'l like to see it in square format, extended to the top.

Hey John, Nice tree. I wish the light was a little better. I may even consider this a good one for black and white conversion. Not sure if there is a sharpness issue but I always re-size first then sharpen it. TFS

Its a fantastic old tree, but the light here is not the most flattering. Definitely a subject to return to in different conditions.
