Beautiful! Very sinuous. Composed perfectly.

Indeed a perfect composition. That color on the trunk (lower part) looks very cyan, but that's about it regarding nitpicking. I enjoy it a lot, great stuff Jim!

Did I pass this tree going up to Observation Point? Looks familiar, but your comp reminds me of a dancer. The detail looks incredible - the compression kills an image like this (looks too bright). A print must be amazing. Great find and presentation. Your careful set up allowed the row of pines(?) to poke through under the branch. :toast:

As others have mentioned, great comp Jim! The colors and textures work wonderfully as well.

Even in the large version, it looks like web compression is affecting this a bit. Bet this will look awesome as a large print! (I'm assuming you're going to print this large, right?)

Thanks for the comments thus far.

Yeah, web compression is killing most of the detail. The raw image has plenty of sharp detail, so a print will look nice I'm sure.

Dietrich, I hadn't noticed the cyan cast on the lower trunk, but I'm seeing it now. Thanks for mentioning it.

Harry, actually this is further down canyon around the Court of the Patriarchs.

Real pretty image, Jim. Love the trunk and it's shape juxtaposing the color.

The tree trunk creates a wonderful, graceful design against the autumn color and the canyon walls. I might consider decreasing the saturation in the reds for the area of rock in the mid-upper left hand side (under the branch) as in my opinion, this area pulls the eye away from the trunk design, and the yellows and greens of the leaves. Just a thought. Either way, a great image that will make a beautiful print.

This really captures the spirit of Zion perfectly. The bluishness makes me think a polarizer might have been useful here.

Very pretty image - the blues confuse me, though. Haven't seen blue leaves.
Congrats on the EP!
