Kharnak light

Summer evening in the high himalayas often brings a quality of light all it's own, light rays having travelled "once from the sun to ground level,... back up through the the atmospheric filter a second time, scattering so much of their blue and purple wavelengths that they appear wholly red by the time they reach their subject.Indeed, a look in the shadows at this time shows a deep bluish purple color, because shadows are lit only by scattered light." - Galen Rowell.
While not the intense colors of extreme altitude, the light here at over 16,000 feet (4,900 meters) glowed with reddish hues on and on.

And so this barren land uncloaks its hidden mysteries, spirit made tangible in the doorway between night and day. Fleeting light ever changing as the air, the breath, all of life through which I move in a nomadic way...and in this there is a harmony - this tent which is my home in a different place each night, these rocks tumbling beneath my feet.

Here I just wanted to capture the depth of the scene and the quality of the light...I liked the contrast of the smooth texture of the water at this exposure with the sharpness of the rocks.

Wonderful image Hills, the eye gets pulled right through to the mountains, what an incredible line you've created!

Nice drama.I find the patch of snow is a little distracting but it is what it is. Beautiful shot.

I love the strength of the wide angle view here; powerful as it draws you into the scene. Some wonderful elements in the distance and sky. :toast:

I love the foreground and the color palette here. The only nit I have is the patch of snow in the middle. It is really really bright, and I can't stop looking at it.

What a great composition and the light is wonderful. Personally I would have preferred a shorter shutter speed for the water to give it a bit more texture, but not a dealbreaker by any means. Very nice! :toast:

This is a very striking image with lots of depth. The light is exquisite, and I love the reflection on the water. The only thing I might try improving would be the composition. I think if you cropped off the bottom 20% or so, it would give the image more balance.

This is so intense, must have be magnificent to be there. My only suggestion might be to tone down the white snowfield on the mnt. - my eyes are pulled there a bit much instead of exploring the rest of the image.
