Floating fall leaves

by Carolyn Derstine

These leaves were slowly swirling around in the creek behind my house. I loved the contrast of colors and textures. The one leaf is under water with lots of bubbles on it. I had posted a similar photo with a different comp in the macro gallery. I think I might like this one better. Taken in natural late afternoon sunlight.

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/9 for 1/100 sec. ISO 400. Tripod mounted.

Carolyn:
The color is what draws my attention most, then the shape and topped by the bubbles. Very nicely seen and captured.

So well seen, Carolyn and beautifully captured ! There is a strong sense of layered depth with this lighting and a very attractive combination of colours and textures. A very fine image in my view.

This required three elements in my opinion. Vision, composition and timing Carolyn. You nailed all three superbly in my opinion. Just wonderful work.
