Just back from Florida. Was down on the beach in Sanibel and spotted this fellow having a wash on a sand bar, did not see him again unfortunately and he was soon off once I got too close.

yes, lovely warm light on the wings and a nice pose too. Is it an Osprey?

It looks like an osprey to me. Lovley lighting, and nice detail on the plumage.

Thanks all, yes an osprey. I was shocked and amazed at the wildlife in Florida, unlike here ospreys are like crows, living among the houses and parks along the coast. This was the only time I got a level shots of one, despite watching them fish and catch along the coast it was always too dark to take a shot. :( Next time I guess!

A cracking Osprey image, right place right time. To witness them fishing is really something else as you say.

Neil I missed this one its a cracking shot ,it's a few years since I was in Florida but like you I was amazed at the wildlife even in the theme parks Micky Mouse land as got the lot seeing this makes me won't to return.
