My cardinals are back! This one has the colors of our backyard oak tree on Oct. 30th for a bg at last evening light. I wish the whole tail was showing, but am pleased mostly with the the nice soft colors here.

50D, 500mm, Iso 200, 1/30, F4 Please see LARGE version if you can and thanks for your comments.

Nice pose and perch. The cardinal himself seems a bit dull - a boost in contrast and red sat would help.
Sure wish the cardnals would get this far west..really miss them from my Ohio childhood.

Nice light on the cardinal and a pleasing background. Agree with Sandy on a little boost on the contrast and saturation.

Agree... some contrast added and a slight decrease in brightness. Better?

I like the light and soft reds here Sharon..The pinkish tones give him a slightly "effeminate" look :)
Great BG, details, and pose, like the perch too.. The missing tail doesn't bother me.
Well done & Happy Thanksgiving! :wavey:
PS - Great as posted in my book.

I too like the soft light and colors in this. The hidden tail tip is not an issue for me.

The lovely colors was the first thing I noticed before reading your introduction. The cardinal is a lovely pink/purple and the BG is just wonderful. I like the composition too.

I agree - the soft colors are very appealing and I like the head turn and the perch. At first I wondered about a bit of a pink color cast since the perch in both versions seems to show that color also but since no one else has mentioned it I guess it's just me.

Such a beautiful species and found in your backyard no less, lucky you Sharon :^)

Marvelous capture, love the pose, and the repost is even better than the original, which I was already very happy with!
