Sun Bittern (C)

Taken in the rainforest exhibit at the Miller Park Zoo. The sun bittern was perched on top of the waterfall in the free-flight exhibit, calling to the one on the ground I assumed. The light, which is natural, was very low, but using a flash, even on low power and angled, still was casting a shadow. I used ISO 800, with flash and w/o flash, but decided w/o flash was best.

Canon T3i
1/160 @ f-5 ISO 800
Canon EF70-300 IS USM @ 180mm.
IS on HH Spot meter.

Very unusual and attractive looking Bittern, love the pose. Aside from the leg-ring the shot looks quite natural, and if you hadn't have said this was taken in captivity I'd have thought this was taken in the wild, well done John!
